Truth Be Told Tuesday #8 - Bras

Truth Be Told, I totally forgot it was Tuesday! So I'm sorry this post is a little late in the day. I'm still visiting my family out in Arizona, so I've been kind of absent from the blogging world. But I'm ready to have some fun sharing some truths with one another. Let's all support each other in our imperfections!

After several of you (and you know who you are ;) confessed last week that you wear your daytime tank to bed, I decided to confess a little undergarment secret of my own.

Truth Be Told, I wear the same 2 bras every week....and I only wash them about once every 2 weeks! Gross? Maybe. But I do make an exception and wash them when I've been extra sweaty ;)

Ok, now it's your turn. Tell us your truth! And as always, share the fun on Facebook, Twitter or your blog. The more people sharing their truths, the more fun it is!!!

Truth Be Told Tuesday #7

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Tuesdays are one of my favorite days because I LOVE to read all of your truths! In case you're new to Truth Be Told Tuesday, it's a day for us all to share some real life truths in an effort to support one another in our imperfections. And remember to spread the word (Facebook, blog, Twitter) so everyone can join in on the fun!

Truth Be Told, I am so embarrassed to admit that I have tooted in yoga class. It might not be such a big deal except that the class consists of only about 5 people so it's not exactly like you can hide the fact that it was you! It used to happen often after having children (you can relate, right? please tell me you can relate...) and I had absolutely no control over it. I hope you all don't think less of me because of these little indiscretions ;)

Ok, now it's your turn! Tell us your truth...

On The Road Again...

Ok, so I won't be on the road, but I'm about to be in the air again (but I couldn't think of a clever song about air travel). I'm packing up the kids and heading to sunny Arizona this week to visit my family!

So, don't be sad if you don't hear from me on a regular basis. It's nothing personal, it's just that I'll be enjoying my vacation. I'm hoping to get lots of yoga in (since I'll have built in babysitters!), spend some good, quality time with the fam and catch up with some old friends.

What are your best traveling-with-children tips? I've traveled a lot with my children but I'm always on the hunt for new suggestions! I've got the DVD player charging, books packed and snacks laid out. It's not a long flight so hopefully that will be enough to keep them busy!

Be sure to come back tomorrow for Truth Be Told Tuesday...there's no way I would leave town without posting that. It's one of the things I look forward to every week!

Future Project Friday #19 - Bath Wrap

I went to a sewing club meeting last night held at one of my favorite fabric stores. It was their second meeting but my first time to attend. It was so much fun to meet other fabric-loving sewers like myself. And the great part was, I came away with several new projects to add to my to-do list.

One project that I am definitely going to do ASAP is to make a bath wrap for my daughter. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the example towel that one of the ladies brought (I know, bad blogger!), but it looked similar to these:

She just used a large hand towel, sewed casing for the elastic at the top, and added some velcro. Then comes the fun part...embellishing it! My daughter loves for us to wrap her up in her towel after her bath. These will be perfect for after the bath. And they'd also be great for the beach or the pool!

Any of you ever made these for your little ones? I wasn't able to find a tutorial online, but it really seems so easy. When I make mine I'll put together a tutorial in case anyone wants it.

Now I'm off to the store to buy fixin's for a shrimp ceviche...yum!!!

WIWW – Baby Shower Edition

I’m linking up with Lindsey from The Pleated Poppy for her weekly series, What I Wore Wednesday (WIWW).  Although I did wear more than one outfit last week, I only managed to get a picture of one of them (or maybe this was the only picture-worthy one….whatever).

This is my sister-in-law (looking beautifully pregnant!) and me at her shower in Miami last weekend (see the baby bedding I made for her here).

Dress and tank – Forever 21 (I might have a new favorite store!)

Tights – Target (where else?)

Shoes – Payless (last summer)

Anybody else linking up with Lindsey?  Any fun new outfits to show off?  I got a couple of new necklaces this week and I’m excited to put together the perfect outfits to go with them.  Maybe next week I’ll manage more than one picture ;)

Baby Bedding Reveal

I am so glad to finally be able to share with you the baby bedding that I made for my first niece who will be entering this world in June. I went to Miami this past weekend for my sister-in-law’s shower and I was so happy to have a chance to see the bedding in the baby’s room. I was only able to finish 3 of the 6 bumper pads in time for the shower, but you get the idea.

{Keep in mind, this was a dry run and it will look much better when all 6 bumper pads are done and actually tied on, and when the bed skirt is not just thrown on.}

IMG_4396 IMG_4393 IMG_4394

Of course I had to make a matching Binky Bag ;)

IMG_4395

And here’s what it looks like with the just purchased, pale yellow crib sheet.

IMG_4459

(I know these pictures aren’t the best, but I was putting on the crib sheet literally about 5 minutes before I had to leave for the airport.)

Here’s a closer look at the fabric in case you missed it from my earlier post.

And if you’re interested, I loosely followed this tutorial for the crib bumpers along with the pattern that came with the crib bumper batting . And for the crib skirt I used this tutorial and this tutorial.

It really was an easy (but time consuming) project. Have any of you ever made your own crib bedding? Let me know if you have any questions about how I made mine!

Truth Be Told Tuesday #6 - Laundry

Hello all and welcome to another Truth Be Told Tuesday. If you're new here, Tuesday is our day to tell the "truth" about what our real life is like (not the ideal life we portray on our blog or Facebook). It's a way for us to support one another in our imperfections. I am really loving this series and I hope you all are too! If you're having as much fun as I am with it, please spread the word (Facebook, blog, Tweet) so everyone can join in on the fun. The more, the merrier!

A lot of you have mentioned your laundry woes on Truth Be Told Tuesday, so I thought I'd share some pictures of what my laundry life looks like.

Truth Be Told, I can never keep up with the laundry. I am pretty good about actually washing the clothes, but I can never seem to get them folded and put away. And I have piles of clothes everywhere. Let me show you the true laundry scene at my house. I took these pictures all on the same day.

My son's clothes. Clean and folded (thanks to my hubby!), but sitting out in the living room.

A pile of clothes in my son's room that I have to go through. Some are clean, some are not, some are hand-me-downs that I have to go through. The pj's on top are the jammies he wore the night before. Nice, huh?

My daughter's clothes are on the left. The are clean and folded (thanks again to my hubby!) but again, sitting in the living room. Next to my daughter's clothes is a load of (unfolded) sheets and towels.

This is the clean laundry basket that I get dressed out of every morning. (I almost moved the shoes out of the picture out of habit, but left 'em in because that's real life at my house!).

Here's a pile of clean (but undoubtedly now wrinkled) clothes sitting on the bench at the foot of my bed.

And of course a load of laundry in the washer...

...and the dryer.

So there you have it. That is 8 piles of clothes in various locations throughout my house, all on the same day (and I only took pictures of the piles of clothes. There are plenty of other stragglers strewn about in every room of the house). So if you're feeling bad about your laundry getting backed up, just remember what mine looks like and maybe it'll make you feel a little better ;)

Ok, now it's your turn! Tell us your "truth" in the comments. Or if you feel like sharing pictures (we ♥ pictures), write a blog post and give us the link!

MIA for awhile

By MIA, I mean both Missing in Action (M.I.A.) and Miami (MIA)! That's right, I'm in sunny Miami right now. I'm here for my sister-in-law's baby shower. And I left the family at home! So I'm not only excited to be here to celebrate the coming birth of my first niece, but I'm also excited to be here on this little mini-vacay! So, no offense, but I will probably be ignoring you all for a few days. Can you blame me? I'm soaking up the sun and the yummy food here in Miami! But I am excited to show you the baby bedding I made for the baby when I get back. I'm hoping to be able to take some pictures of it in the crib. Have a great weekend! I know I will ;)

Truth Be Told Tuesday #5

Happy Tuesday friends! Welcome to another edition of "Truth Be Told Tuesdays" where we all share our real life truths with each other in an effort to support one another in our imperfections.

As my semi-annual dentist appointment approaches, I figured I'd share a truth related to my teeth ☺

Truth Be Told, I start flossing my teeth about a week before my dentist appointment because I don't want the hygienist to think I don't floss everyday. After my appointment I swear I am going to keep up with it...but I never do.

I mean, seriously, I'm lucky I brush my teeth twice a day (usually). Flossing is a luxury I just don't have time for right now. Are you with me on this one?

Ok, now it's your turn. Tell us your truth! And spread the word so everyone can join in on the fun (Facebook about it, Tweet it, blog it, text it, etc....).

P.S. Sorry this is late, I was having computer problems this morning and then I took my birthday boy to the mall for a special train ride :)

Future Project Friday #18

This week’s “Future Project Friday” is more of an “In-Process Project Friday”. My first niece is going to be born in June (Yay!) and I offered to make the bedding for her room.

Remember this fabric?

IMG_3339

Well we found a third fabric to go along with it and this is what I’m using to make the crib skirt and the bumper. Doesn’t this fabric just make you smile? It’s going to be so pretty in the room and I can’t wait to see the nursery come together (they’ve painted the wall with the crib on it gray and the rest of the walls a pale yellow).

IMG_3517

I am so excited about this project and I am so happy to be able to do this for my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. I don’t want to give away the details of the bedding (since I want them to be surprised at the shower next weekend) but I promise I will share details after the shower.

So what are you working on this weekend? Any future projects on your To-Do list?
